Community, Connection, and Purpose: Reflections from Our First Southeast Melbourne Disability Expo

View Community Link attended our very first Southeast Melbourne Disability Expo! Here is a look back at an incredible day of connection, learning, and standing alongside amazing

support services.

There is a certain energy you feel when you walk into a room full of people dedicated to making a difference. Last week, we at View Community Link – experienced that firsthand at our very first Southeast Melbourne Disability Expo.

We didn’t quite know what to expect stepping through the doors. As first-time exhibitors, we were equal parts excited and nervous. But from the moment the doors opened at the venue, we knew we were exactly where we needed to be.

A Hall Full of Heroes

It was fantastic to be set up alongside such an incredible lineup of exhibitors. We were surrounded by passionate advocates, innovative therapists, assistive technology wizards, and local support coordinators who truly care.

What struck us most wasn't just the variety of services on offer, but the spirit of collaboration. There were no competitors here—just allies. Everyone shared the same goal: to empower individuals living with disabilities, their families, and their carers.

More Than Just a Booth

For us at View Community Link, this expo was a masterclass in listening. We had the privilege of speaking with so many of you who stopped by our stall. We heard your stories, your challenges, and your victories.

We learned that while paperwork and processes are necessary, the disability sector runs on trust and human connection.

We also took full advantage of the workshop sessions listed in the guide. We came away with notebooks full of fresh ideas, new strategies for support, and a much deeper understanding of the gaps we need to help fill in the Southeast Melbourne community.

Gratitude All Around

A huge thank you to the organisers for putting together such a seamless and welcoming event. From the accessibility of the venue to the layout of the expo floor, every detail was thoughtfully considered.

To the amazing exhibitors and support services who shared the floor with us – thank you for the chats, the coffee runs, and the shared laughter. You are doing incredible work.

And most importantly, thank you to every attendee who took the time to visit us. You reminded us why we do what we do.

What’s Next?

Our first expo has lit a fire under us here at View Community Link. We are heading back with fresh eyes and a renewed commitment to serving this community.

We are also excited to invite you to our upcoming Open Day!

Come see us in person, tour our space, meet the team, and learn more about how we can support you or your participants.

Until next time, Southeast Melbourne. Keep advocating, keep supporting, and keep showing up for one another.
